With the aim to further capacitate Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) on the effective dissemination and implementation of the Rice Crop Manager in the region, the Agricultural Training Institute in MiMaRoPa conducted the Training on Rice Crop Manager Advisory Services on May 28-31, 2019 at ATI MiMaRoPa, Barcenaga, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

Among the topics discussed were: Overview of the Rice Crop Manager Advisory Services (RAS), RCM Farmer and Farm Lot Registration, measuring farm lot using GPS, uploading GPX files, RCM Farmer ID Maker, RCM interview using Farmer ID Number, Overview of Site-Specific Nutrient Management and RCM, RCM Messenger Services, RAS Statistics, and Contact Us.

Also, one of the highlights of the activity was the actual barangay field immersion where they interviewed the farmers and measured their corresponding farms using the GPS tool. The said activity aims to calculate the exact farm size enabling to generate more precise RCM recommendations.

Before the training was ended, the participants were also crafted municipal action plans regarding RAS in their respective municipalities

“Salamat po sa pagkakataon na ibinigay ninyo sa akin upang makadalo sa pagsasanay na ito. Umasa po kayo na isa ako sa mangunguna ng pagsusulong ng RCM sa aking kapwa magsasaka sa aming lugar. Marami po akong natutunan dito na maibabahagi ko sa maing samahan sa aming lugar,” said Bert Flore, Local Farmer Technician in Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro.
