Organic Agriculture Program in ATI-MIMAROPA holds Stakeholder Consultation

To harmonize the implementation of the Organic Agriculture (OA) program as well as discuss the issues concerning its implementation in the region, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MiMaRoPa spearheaded the one-day “OA Stakeholder Consultation” on March 16, 2022.

During the activity, Engr. Karen A. Tulay, Agriculturist I/OA Point Person of ATI in MiMaRoPa briefed the participants on the Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System. Also, Mr. Jomel Pasia, Agriculturist from the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office discussed the Republic Act No. 11511, particularly the Participatory Guarantee System.

Moreover, the Center’s OA Accomplishments for 2021 as well as its training programs targets for 2022 were presented in the consultation. Then, it was followed by the presentation of the 2021 Accomplishments and 2022 programs/activities of each province that were discussed by Ms. Charry R. Malco, Agriculturist II/Provincial OA Coordinator in Marinduque; Ms. Gloria G. Generato, Agricultural Technologist/OA Technical Staff of Provincial Agriculturist-Oriental Mindoro; and Ms. Johanna Mae A. Alvarez, Agricultural Technologist/OA Technical Staff of Provincial Agriculture in Palawan.

Officer-in-Charge Assistant Center Director Norberto C. Maur graced the activity. He encouraged all OA Coordinators to innovate and think of new strategies to help the organic farmers in the region, especially on the aspect of marketing to promote its organically-produced products.

The said online activity was attended by 35 participants consisting of AEWs and farmers from different provinces in the MiMaRoPa Region.
