Corcuera, Romblon is an island municipality wherein livestock is one of the thriving means of living. The training on gender and development (GAD) entitled “Sustainable and Climate - Resilient Livestock Farming” became significant to the participants because it retorts to the limited supplies of feeds for their animals.
ATI-MiMaRoPa through its Information Services Section was able to conduct two training under the Climate Change Program for the month of March.
A total of 24 Local Farmer Technicians from the municipalities of Marinduque and Romblon were oriented on the ICT Tools on Agriculture last March 20, 2018 at ATI MiMaRoPa Compound, Barcenaga, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

In preparation for the book of Magsasakang Siyentista (MS), the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MiMaRoPa captured the inspirational life stories of MS of Farmers’ Information Technology Services (FITS) in the region.
“Kaalaman, Impormasyon at Teknolohiya sa Wastong Paghahayupan Kikita Ka”, a famous tagline that captured the heart of SOA livestock farmers.
The 17 new breeds of extensionists are now ready to serve the rice farming community in the region after completing the 5-month-long training called Enabling AGRiDOC: A New Breed of Agricultural Development and Extension Officers of the Community.
The season-long training culminated on October 25, 2017 where the new AGRiDOCs were recognized.
AgRiDOC students together with Pat Andrew B. Barrientos (Center Director/ Regional Chapter President-MiMaRoPa) participate in the 2017 AFFNR Extension Symposium. Said endeavour is an activity spearheaded by PHILEASNET in partnership with DA-ATI and DA-CAR held on October 3-4, 2017 at Crown Legacy Hotel, Baguio City.
“We are blessed and very fortunate because opportunities like this is very rare, to be catered by ATI for our immersion program which was the first work immersion program in the Division of Calapan City,” said Ms. Glorineil D. Romero, Principal IV of Managpi National High School (MNHS).
Crossing mountains and fields, Leonardo Macalam, 60, farmer, walked for almost 3 hours for three days – from August 29 to 31, 2017 to reach the training venue before the 8:00 AM start time. His journey starts from their house in Brgy. Sawang to Brgy. Macalas, Romblon, Romblon with his pair of slippers as his so-called “transportation means”.
