LGU - Butuan City, DepEd show full support on 4-H Garden in the School

AMPARO, Butuan City – Hand in hand with the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 in the promotion of agriculture in the country’s basic education, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Butuan City thru its City Agriculture Office (CAO) and the Department of Education (DepEd) showed its full support to the 4-H Garden in the School Program during its launching in Amparo National High School on July 25-26, 2019.

In his message, Engr. Pierre Anthony Joven - OIC City Agriculturist, encouraged the students to engage in agriculture or in any farming activities. Mr. Reynaldo Encarguez from DepEd shared the memorandum of the Department regarding the intensification of Gulayan sa Paaralan Program in schools.

Mr. Romeo Giducos, Principal, thank the support extended to their school which would greatly help the students to practice what they had learned and love agriculture.

Part of the activity was a Seminar on Organic Vegetable gardening. Mr. Eric Ancheta was the resource person for vegetable gardening especially on the cultural management practices of planting these crops. On the other hand, Ms. Joan dela Torre discussed Organic Agriculture and the preparation of concoctions namely: Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ), Fermented Fruit Juice (FFJ), Oriental Herbal Nutrient (OHN), Fish Amino Acid (FAA) and Nemplus. Said mixtures were the students’ output of the two-day event.

ATI-RTC 13 provided farm tools and materials for gardening such as shovel, seedling tray, sprinkler, sprayer, etc. Further, CAO Butuan City also gave UV plastic cellophane for vegetable production.
