4-H Club Caraga achieves Top 6 during National Convention

Farm Youth National Convention

1. Cristian Cuario, 4-H member from Agusan del Sur, got 5th Place for Terrarium (glass gardening) contest during the 67th Farm Youth National Convention on May 28 – 31, 2019 in Vigan City.

VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur – To promote new ideas and innovations and to further entice the youth to engage in farming, 26 individuals composed of 4-H Club members and coordinators actively participated in the 67th Farm Youth National Convention on May 28 – 31, 2019 at Hotelinda Suites. The group was also recognized as the top 6 among the 15 participating regions during the said event.

With its theme “BIDA 4H: Bringing Innovation and Development in Agriculture through 4H Club,” participants were exposed to six contests.

The following 4-Hers competed and got their awards namely: Zap Derrick M. Morgado – 3rd Place for Quiz Bee, Jiar G. Ruel – 4th Place for Spoken Poetry, Cristian Cuario – 5th Place for Terrarium (Glass Gardening), King John Anacito Rosales – 6th Place for On-the-Spot Canvass Painting, Perlene R. Guindang – 7th place for 4-H Himig Handog Singing and Song Writing Competition, and Alvier Jade Remollo – 8th Place for Cacao Based Food Processing.

Partakers were able to listen to a lecture series delivered by various speakers. Mr. Kevin Cuevas talked about “The Future of Agribusiness.” Ricmel S. Falqueza explained the importance of outreach program in developing the gift of giving and sharing to those who are in need. Another talk was given by Mr. Gary Ayuste entitled “Organic Agriculture: BEEginers Love at First Sting.” Moreover, an awareness drive on Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) also took place.

International Travel Reports were done by Mr. John Lord Auman in Australia, Mr. Michael Elechicon in Korea, and Mr. John Andrew Nero in Japan. All in all, there were more than 400 partakers who attended the said activity.
