Women find business opportunities in processing cassava products

MALIMONO, Surigao del Norte- The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 is currently holding a Skills Training on Cassava Processing and Food Safety Awareness in Malimono, Surigao del Norte. This runs for three days starting May 28, 2019 and will culminate on the 30th.

This training comprises thirty (30) women as participants. It is with the aim of enhancing the participants’ knowledge and skills in processing cassava products at the same time increase their awareness on how to prepare and keep the food safe.

Women from Malimono find opportunities to venture into business by processing cassava into various products such as cassava fries, cassava cake, cassava balls and a lot more.

With the guidance of the Resource Person, Ms. Antonieta Tustowski, participants were able to make a delicious ‘cassava fries’ on the first day. More recipes out of cassava will be made within three days.

Mr. Jason Paul Dads E. Jampac served as the Project Officer of the training along with the other ATI staff namely Ms. Rejane Ata and Ginalyn V. Arbutante.

On the other hand, the Municipal Agriculture Office of Malimono headed by Ms. Loreta Loren also showed their full support from the invitation of participants up to the provision and preparation of the venue and other logistics needed to make this training successful.

The opening program is grace by the Sangguniang Bayan Member Marilyn Macarene on behalf of the Malimono, SDN Mayor.
