CBR hosts 3rd BAFC Congress

Mr. Heracleo A. Paler represented ATI-Caraga during the ceremonial turn-over of the Catalytic fund for the FITS center of LGU Cabadbaran City on March 28, 2019.

CABADBARAN CITY, Agusan del Norte – The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cabadbaran through the City Agriculture Office hosted its 3rd Barangay Agricultural and Fishery Council (BAFC) Congress last March 28, 2019 at Loreta Resort Restaurant and Events Venue. Ms. Maria Arceli C. Soria, City Agriculturist mentioned that the Agriculture and Fishery Council (AFC) was organized and strengthened since they are part of the monitoring team for all projects implemented in the locality. She acknowledged the stakeholders and the partner agencies who continually joined in the LGU’s effort in providing efficient services to the agriculture and fishery sector.

One of the highlights of the event was the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement by and between the LGU-Cabadbaran represented by Mayor Katrina Marie O. Mortola, Agricultural Training Institute and, Caraga State University for the implementation of the Techno Gabay Program.

Mr. Heracleo A. Paler, Senior Agriculturist/Chief of the Partnership and Accreditation Services Section of ATI-Regional Training Center 13 handed the ceremonial check for the catalytic fund amounting to P100,000.00 in support to the Farmers Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center. The FITS center is a facility that provides the farmers, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders an access to information and technology services.

In his inspiration message, Hon. Erlpe John M. Amante, Representative of the 2nd District of Agusan del Norte said that the government has been responsive in providing production support and other interventions; it’s up to the farmers to take full advantage of all this support to improve their living standards through farming. He also encouraged the farmers to engage into value adding of their farm products for additional income. On the other hand, Mayor Mortola assured that the LGU is pushing for the provision of off-farm income alternatives for farmers and fisherfolk association.

Other support interventions and financial assistance from the LGU, Department of Agriculture and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources were turned over to various Farmers, Fisherfolk and Irrigators’ Association.
