MagParami at MagkaMoney: Free Seminar on Asexual Plant Propagation, A Success!

LOS ANGELES, Butuan City- Around 72 participants attended in the free seminar that was conducted by the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 on March 11, 2019.

First time ever that the Institute hosted such activity and was a successful one. This is through the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) under the Partnership and Accreditation Services Section (PASS) of the ATI-RTC 13.

Participants comprised students, teachers, farmers, agricultural extension workers (AEWs), private employees and other stakeholders. Mostly they came from Region 13 and 10.

OIC-Center Director Samuel L. Calonzo welcomed and thanked everyone for responding the call that was posted online specifically in social media.

Baring its slogan “Magparami at Magkamoney”, said seminar taught participants on how to propagate plants using grafting and marcotting methods.

Lecture and actual demonstration was led by Engr. Joel Laure, HVCDP Focal Person along with the farm workers.

Participants undergo hands-on activity on marcotting and grafting lemon and cacao at the ATI-FFARMS right after a brief discussion on its basic procedures. They were able to perform the said propagation methods by themselves during the session. According to one of the participants, their knowledge and skills were really enhanced.

The free seminar on Asexual Propagation was conducted at ATI-Caraga Training Hall, Los Angeles, Butuan City at 8-12 o’clock in the morning.
