LIANGA, Surigao de Sur - Participants comprising Municipal Agriculturists Agricultural Extension Workers, Barangay Officials, Barangay Agricultural Workers and Farmer-leaders of Agusan del Sur toured at Mejares Fun Farm in Lianga, Surigao del Sur on January 18, 2018.
T2 Project Officer Ms. Nena Lomuntad lead the group during a one-day expository tour. They were entertained and briefed by Mrs. Magno, AEW from Lingig, Surigao del Sur of how the said farm started.
Through the eagerness of Mrs. Arlinda Gallaroza, the owner of the farm to have her own developed farm and eventually making it as farm tourism site, she asked help and seek advice from their Municipal Agriculture Office at Lianga, SDS. She also tapped ATI Caraga on what to do specifically in applying as Learning Site.
Time permits it and all her wishes, hopes and dreams are gradually granted. Today she is one of the Learning Site Cooperators certified by the Agricultural Training Institute- Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 and Mejares Fun Farm is now a Farm Tourism Site in Caraga accredited by the Department of Tourism.
The group are all amazed after seeing the farm. They were taught on the benefits and purposes of the plants in the farm by Mrs. Magno. They gained additional knowledge on what they have heard and saw at Mejares Fun Farm, worthy to be emulated.
