PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur – Thirty farmers of this town attended the Financial Literacy Training (FLT) last September 6-7, 2018. The aim is to enhance the marketing and business aspect of the farm, educate farmers on good values and financial management, and inform them on various government interventions that will be helpful for them. The said farmers have availed the Production Loan Easy Access program or PLEA of the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC). As PLEA beneficiaries, they are encouraged to join the FLT.

The two-day training included discussions on financial literacy and Filipino values, agribusiness cycle, farm record keeping and marketing. The participants learned the importance of saving and budgeting their limited resources for the upliftment of their condition. After the training, the participants are expected to apply what they have learned and share the knowledge to their community folks.

“We heartily thank DA and ATI for conducting the Financial Literacy Training. It is a big help for us, because we now understand the importance of proper budgeting and saving. Truly, we need to save for the future. In this training, we also learned the essence of record keeping as a part of farm management. Lastly, the values that they taught us had a big impact to everyone here. It served as our guide and a light for the people in our community,” stated Salvador Dumanon during the training’s closing program.
