Mr. Mojica informs farmers on the role of ASSCAT to the FITS centers.

SAN LUIS, Agusan del Sur-The local government unit (LGU) of San Luis, Agusan del Sur established its own Farmers’ Information and Technology Services (FITS) center this year.

As one of the component of the Techno Gabay Program (TGP), the FITS center will serve as a library for farmers where they can get updates on any agricultural technology and information.

With the effort of the Municipal Agriculturist, Ceasar Burdeos, the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) has been signed between the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Caraga represented by OIC Center Director Samuel Calonzo and MLGU of San Luis represented by their Mayor on July 18, 2018.

MOA signing was done during their program on site visitation on USAD farms with the presence of Gov. Adolph Edward Plaza in Brgy. Santiago, San Luis, Agusan del Sur.

A day after, launching ceremony was held right in the FITS center on July 19, 2018. Said activity was attended by the farmers, farmer-leaders and officials in various barangays of San Luis. Representatives from DILG and ASSCAT as Partner-Agency also joined in.

The FITS center is now open to serve farmers, fishers and other stakeholders in San Luis, Agusan del Sur. ATI Caraga staff, Mr. Babanto and Ms. Arbutante informed farmers to always visit the center for every query they have related to agriculture.

This is part of the ATI’s mandate in delivering quality training and extension services.

Serving people right at their doorstep through FITS center.
