Cagdianao, PDI produces 24 FFS graduates

The FFS on Vegetable Production participants during the establishment of their participatory technology demonstration garden on May 6, 2021 with the facilitators from MAO-Cagdianao, PDI.

BRGY. R.ECLEO, Cagdianao, Province of Dinagat Islands – Aiming to empower farmers with knowledge and skills to make them experts in their own field, the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII in partnership with the Municipal Agriculture Office of Cagdianao were able to produce 24 graduates of Farmers Field School (FFS) on Vegetable Production.
The season-long activity was composed of 16 sessions which started on April 29 to August 20, 2021.

Participants were able to make critical and informed decisions considering their farm profitability and sustainability, sensitized new ways of thinking and problem solving, and organize themselves and their communities. They also made Agro Ecosystem Analysis (AESA) reports, group reports of observations and analysis, produced organic concoctions and undergone field practicum, tests, and evaluations.

Further, it highlighted the establishment of participatory technology demonstration (PTD) with the help of Carol Equibal and Ronagin Pepoy who served as facilitators and resource persons.

“Akong pasalamat na nakaapil ako ani nga pagtuon sa pagpananom kay dinhi nako nahibaloan na kun mag paturapak lang diay kita ug pananum sama ra naghago-hago lang kay wala man kita mahibalo kun unsaon pag-apply sa mga abuno ug daghan na pamaagi na mga pang spray na pangpatay sa mga dangan (I am very much thankful that I was able to join in this FFS because through this, I have realized that planting without enough knowledge in doing it is just a waste of effort. I have learned how to properly apply fertilizers and in controlling insects and diseases through many ways like spraying),” exclaimed Aurelio Y. Conje during the expression of impression on the day of the graduation ceremony.
