LOS ANGELES, Butuan City – Designed to capacitate Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) assigned in the livestock sector, the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII conducted a Training on Quantum Geographic Information System (QGIS) Batch 2 on June 17-18, 2021.
The training aimed to capacitate AEWs through additional knowledge and skills on encoding data and preparing a zoning map intended for the African Swine Fever (ASF) monitoring and surveillance. It was participated by 18 individuals from the province of Surigao del Sur.
Resource persons were Euneil G. Atalo and Jeff E. Alaan who were both from the Department of Agriculture (DA) – Regional Field Office 13.
“The training QGIS is very helpful and essential especially in times like this wherein our hog industry is threatened because we were equipped with the knowledge to fight ASF, we also hope that there will be more trainings to be conducted in the future,” said Dr. Jayzel O. Dela Peña, Municipal Veterinarian of Cantilan, Surigao del Sur.
