ATI-13 trains gov’t workers on photography, vlogging

For the 3rd time, multi-awarded journalist Erwin Mascariñas, acted as resource speaker in an ATI-sponsored training. This time he shared his expertise during the “It’s All in the Click”: Training on Photography and Vlogging that took place at the training complex of ATI-RTC 13 last June 22-25, 2021.

LOS ANGELES, Butuan City - Twenty-four (24) staff from the Farmers Information Technology Services (FITS) Center and the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 completed the four-day training entitled “It’s All in the Click”: Training on Photography and Vlogging which ran from June 22 to 25, 2021 at the training complex of ATI-RTC 13.

The specific objectives of the training were for the participants to learn how to skillfully operate cameras and photographic equipment, bring out different emotions from photographs, enhance images for IEC material development, and create vlogs.

During the opening program, ATI-13 Center Director Samuel L. Calonzo told the participants to, “make use of the gadget, make use of the training, make use of everything while you are here. Capitalize on it. Enhance your abilities. Incorporate that in your work as an agriculturist.”

Meanwhile, Fil Victor A. Babanto, Information Officer III of ATI-13 and Project Officer of the training, explained during the training overview that the agency wanted to improve the quality of IEC materials produced by FITS Centers particularly the photos, captions, and write-ups that the public sees and read.

Multi-awarded journalist Erwin Mascariñas, who was the resource speaker of the training, stressed during his lectures that photojournalism is 90% thinking and waiting (patience) and 10% execution. This means that the cameraman needs to consider camera basics such as lighting condition, position and angle, and others before he clicks the camera.

Aside from topics on photography and photojournalism, there were also discussions on captioning, news writing, and vlogging. On the third day, the group visited Ragas Farm to interview the owner, Ruben Ragas, and his family and to take photos and footages to be incorporated in their vlogs. (Please see related article)
