AgriTalk webinar draws more than 300 individuals

National Gawad Saka awardee Marvin Jinayon discussed about Duck Production (ItikPinas) during the morning session of AgriTalk webinar special dubbed as “Agri Ini, Hisgutan Ta!” on May 27, 2021.

LOS ANGELES, Butuan City – Dubbed as “Agri Ini, Hisgutan Ta!”, the AgriTalk webinar special of the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center 13 (ATI-RTC 13) has drawn more than 300 farmers, technicians, students, and netizens to register to the program prior to its airing on May 27, 2021 via Zoom and Facebook live.

Most of the online participants were farmers and Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) who were able to listen to the discussions via their ICT-capable FITS Center. The resource speakers who were invited to speak were Marvin Jinayon, Olegario Ayensa Jr., and Bryan Tingas.

Jinayon delivered his topic on Best Practices on Duck Production (Itik Pinas) during the morning session. He is the owner of Jinayon Duck Farm in Trento, Agusan del Sur which is also a certified Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA). In 2019, Jinayon won the National Gawad Saka award under the Small Animal Raiser category.

At 1:30 PM, Ayensa shared his learnings on Best Practices on Free Range Chicken. He is currently the manager of Countryfields Agri, another LSA located in Brgy. Tungao, Butuan City. He is an agriculture graduate of Xavier University and has worked with Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) such as Heifer International and Winrock International.

The last speaker of the day was Bryan Tingas who discussed about Urban Gardening. He owns the Freshly Cut Vegetable Garden located in Brgy. Basag, Butuan City. He specializes in hydroponics and Nature Farming Technology System (NFTS) where he has been a resource person for five years.

This is the second time since last year that ATI-RTC 13 conducted the AgriTalk webinar special. This initiative is supported by ATI-Central Office, Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation, and Smart Communications.
