ATI-Caraga Center Director Samuel L. Calonzo encouraged everyone to listen and learn various technologies specifically on smart rice agriculture during the launching on air.
BUTUAN CITY- The School-on-the-Air (SOA) program on Smart Rice Agriculture (SRA) was launched in Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur via Hope Radio Station in Butuan City on May 12, 2021. Hosted by the Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Information Section (RAFIS) through Ms. Rhea Abao, Information Officer II of the Department of Agriculture-Caraga.
The launching at the same time first airing of the program was participated by ATI-Caraga Center Director Samuel L. Calonzo and Information Services Section Chief Fil Victor A. Babanto as Live Guests together with OIC-Regional Technical Director for Operations Rebecca R. Atega of DA-Caraga.
Said program aimed at creating awareness as well as imparting knowledge on smart rice agriculture technologies among farmers, agricultural extension workers, students and other stakeholders in the said provinces.
Moreover, SOA enrollees in Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur as target participants are obliged to catch up the topics that will be discussed every episode by the Resource Persons specifically from the Philippine Rice Research Institute-Agusan Experiment Station and Provincial Agriculture Offices.
The weekly radio program will be aired every Wednesday at 5:00-6:00 o’clock in the morning in 93.5 Hope Radio and will be livestreamed at ATI Caraga Region Facebook Page and DA Caraga Facebook Page. This will be running for four (4) months from May to August with 16 episodes.
Members of the Regional Technical Working Group (RTWG) of the SOA-SRA comprised Department of Agriculture-Caraga, Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 and Philippine Rice Research Institute-Agusan Experiment Station.
