Barangay Agricultural Workers (BAWs) and selected Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) participate in the Technical Briefing on RCM version 2.31 held in LGU-Cantilan FITS Center on April 12, 2021.
CANTILAN, Surigao del Sur- The Local Government Unit of Cantilan, Surigao del Sur initiated the conduct of a one-day technical briefing for the Rice Crop Manager Operation on April 12, 2021. This was held right at their own Farmer’s Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center in the Municipal Agriculture Office of Cantilan. This is with the assistance of the Information Service Specialist and Agricultural Technologist Myla Blanco.
Several Barangay Agricultural Workers (BAWs) and selected Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) participated in the Technical Briefing on RCM version 2.31.
Municipal Agriculturist Ceasar Blanco welcomed everyone during the program. He expressed his profound gratitude to the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 for the unceasing support to the FITS Center’s various activities.
Moreover, ATI-RTC 13 staff headed by Fil Victor Babanto, Information Officer III together with Ginalyn Arbutante, Info. Officer II and Maria Den Boco, Agri. I facilitated the briefing activity. Babanto discussed the basics of RCM –related computer operation using PC or laptop, tablets and smartphones.
After the said briefing, the BAWs as RCM operators will be deployed in their respective Barangay together with the MAO staff and will conduct interview to the rice farmers at the same time generate fertilizer recommendations.
Rice Crop Manager is one of the component tools and services of the Rice Crop Manager Advisory Service. It is a web and mobile phone-based application which provides personalized recommendations to rainfed and irrigated lowland rice farmers on crop and field management practices before crop establishment in the field. It uses science-based principles and modern computing to calculate field-and farmers-specific management recommendations.
RCM’s main goal is to increase farmer income through precise crop management and enhance rural advisory extension services by utilizing Information and Communications Technology (ICT). Provides recommendation on nutrient management such as Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium and Zinc, seed rate for direct seeded rice, weed management, crop health management and more.
