Blezel Balmocena, webinar's Resource Person teaches online participants all about dragon fruit production and its health benefit on September 18, 2020.
BUTUAN CITY- Wrinkle problems? Why don't you try Dragon Fruit," says Blezel Balmocena, a Dragon Fruit grower from Bancasi, Butuan City. She taught online learners about Dragon Fruit Production during the last episode of the i-BIDA nATIn webinar series Season 3 on September 18, 2020.
Importance and health benefits of dragon fruits highlighted in the presentation of Balmocena during the webinar. It is known that dragon fruit contains small amount of several nutrients. It is a good source of iron, magnesium and fiber. It improves cardiovascular health and with dietary fibers which is essential in enhancing healthy digestion. The said fruit also contains antioxidants like vitamin C which boost the immune system and defend the body against free radicals and infections.
Balmocena further said that the fiber in dragon fruit normalizes sugar levels. It also helps in the prevention of cancer since vitamin C boosts the immune system to fight illnesses. Added to that, dragon fruit improves skin health and functionality.
As an owner of a dragon fruit farm, Balmocena shared her feelings of fulfillment to the learners and encourage them to try producing it to help others. “The enormous amount of hard work turned into a fruit of happiness especially when the first harvest was done” Zels professes.
Moreover, Center Director Samuel L. Calonzo gave his message to the online learners. He thanked them for the usual support to the program through their registration and presence online. This is in response to the chosen few who expressed their personal experiences and testimonies through video or chat regarding the webinar.
