BRGY. LOS ANGELES, Butuan City – They thought only lilies and kangkong can thrive purely in water. Thanks to the webinar series on Hydroponics last September 11, 2020, at least online learners now know that other crops too can grow in such a soilless and aqueous environment.

Romer S. Amante, Technical staff of the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 13, defines Hydroponic simply as a method of growing plants without soil. The term was first introduced in 1937 and it was William Gericke, the father of Hydroponics, who was the first one to grow tomato vines just using mineral-nutrient solutions.

Among the advantages of Hydroponics include optimal use of spaces, elimination of weeds, fewer pests and diseases, and saves time and labor since you do not need to water your plants every day.
