CANTILAN, Surigao del Sur- The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cantilan, Surigao del Sur has finally launched their established Farmers Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center on July 15, 2020.
The launching activity was attended by the Deputy Speaker, Congressman Prospero Pichay and his wife Mayor Maria Carla Pichay who also did the ribbon-cutting right after the blessing of the center. Personnel and staff at the same time farmers from the Municipal Office of Cantilan, SDS served as the participants during the program.
The said activity was simultaneously conducted with the opening of the municipality’s abaca nursery and warehouse.
Moreover, Mayor Pichay assured her support whatever undertakings related to the Techno Gabay Program (TGP).
On the other hand, Fil Victor A. Babanto, Information Officer III of the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 presented key points about the TGP during the program. TGP’s components and functions were also discussed. Babanto also encouraged everyone to enroll in e-learning courses and let them invite others such as students, farmers and other stakeholders to get courses especially this time of pandemic wherein there is limited movement of individuals.
The launching activity was also joined by Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Esmeraldo Odtojan who showed his support to the municipality and Dr. Baceledes Estal from Surigao del Sur State University (SDSSU).
Municipal Agriculturist Caesar Blanco expressed his profound gratitude to ATI-RTC 13 for the catalytic fund support intended to their newly-launched FITS center with rice as a focus commodity.
