LOS ANGELES, Butuan City – In view of the United Nations (UN) campaign to raise public awareness of international efforts to combat desertification and drought, the Agricultural Training Institute joins the world as it celebrates June 17 as Desertification and Drought Day through sharing information about soil conservation and climate change strategies.
According to their post in their official website, the UN focused on changing the public attitudes towards humanity’s relentless production and consumption with this year’s theme “Food. Feed. Fiber.”
The growing population and urbanization lead to greater demand for food, animal feed, and fiber for man’s clothing. On the other hand, the capability and productivity of our land used to cultivate food is declining caused by human activities and climatic variations. The UN held a Youtube short film series related to the theme and Become #UNCCDLandHeroes Contest.
