Twenty-five Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) marched during the culmination program of the Season-Long Training of Trainers (SL-TOT) on Integrated Crop Management for Corn Production on August 3, 2017.
This was successfully conducted by the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 starting March 20 to August.
The four months training is in line with the Department of Agriculture and ATI’s ultimate goal of producing quality and competent trainers in corn production. This was participated in by the AEWs from the five provinces in the region.
Said training aimed to provide a full season of hands-on experience in designing, managing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating IPM Program at the same time reinforce awareness of non-formal education approaches and techniques which can be used in the delivery of IPM.
The 25 TOT participants also passed the NC III Assessment as one of the requirement of the said training. After series of workshops and field activities such as demonstrations and land preparations for corn production, participants finally succeed to be seasoned trainers in their respective municipalities.
“I am so thankful for this training, TOT on Corn with NC III because I learned a lot of technologies in terms of planting corn as well as dealing with the farmers. I also learned to know who are the insects and pests in the corn field. With this, we also become a competent trainer through the NC III certification.” Said Mr. Rex A. Campano, an extension worker from Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur and one of the participants during the Season-Long Training of Trainers on Corn Production.
