BRGY. ANTONGALON, Butuan City – It was a different shooting incident that took place at the vegetable farm of Edgardo Madjos at Sitio Tagulahi, Brgy. Antongalon, Butuan City last February 19, 2020. On the early morning of Wednesday, just after breakfast, Madjos was already in his vegetable farm surrounded by twenty-seven individuals armed with cameras and cellphones. The crowd was composed of Agricultural Extension Workers (AEW) and staff from Caraga State University (CSU) and the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) who were participants of the Training Course on Photography and Image Editing also subtitled as “Drawing with Lights.”
Madjos was chosen as a subject since he is a Magsasakang Siyentista (MS) or a model farmer. His farm, besides being postcard-perfect, is an ATI-certified Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) which means it is open for farmers and visitors to learn techniques in vegetable growing.
Together with the group was Erwin Mascariñas, a multi-awarded photojournalist from Butuan City, and the training management staff of ATI-RTC 13 led by the Project Officer, Ginalyn V. Arbutante. The photoshoot at Madjos farm was just one of the many photo workshops required during the four-day training. A day earlier, the trainees underwent lectures on basic photojournalism, photographic and lighting techniques, mobile photography and many more.
