LOS ANGELES, Butuan City - The Agricultural Training Institute- Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13, as one of the agencies implementing the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Extension Services Component concluded the last batch of the twelve-day Training of Trainers (TOT) on Modernized Production of High Quality Inbred Rice and Seeds last November 1, 2019 at the ATI-RTC 13, Training Hall.
This TOT is part of the full implementation of the RCEF program of the government and was conducted to enhance rice farmers’ capability to produce high quality inbred rice and seeds by the use of modern farming technologies. Also, this will help them develop their farming skills for improved competitiveness and income.
There are 30 participants of this training which was composed of 25 farmer-leaders of Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs) of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR)- Caraga, three (3) learning site co-operators and two (2) Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs).
This training was made for them to be able to implement the Modified Season-long Farmers’ Field School (FFS). Trainees were not only exposed to handling different farm machinery but also trained on training management, communication and presentation skills.
Inasmuch as the RCEF program is still on its way for its full implementation, this training is a good avenue to start-up more competitive and productive rice farmers in the country.
