Participants prepare seedbed for growing Bulb Onion Seedlings.
CABADBARAN CITY- “This is an excellent training and very inspiring. It is good to see different approaches and new ways to train vegetable growers and give me lots of new ideas and skills, I’m glad to be part of this training.” Allandale B. Idea said during the seminar as one of the learners on bulb onion production. He is an Agricultural Extension Worker (AEW) assigned in the Local Government Unit of Cabadbaran City.
With an aim of increasing the knowledge, skills and attitude of the participants, the Free Seminar on Onion Bulb Production was successfully conducted on September 17, 2019 at Casa Alburo, Cabadbaran City. This is along with a tagline "Bulb Onion for Higher Income Generation" wherein learners will surely get new ideas and techniques in producing bulb onion with higher yield and income.
Thirty-three (33) participants comprising farmers and students joined in.
The seminar focuses more on the cultural practices on bulb onion. Series of lectures and actual demonstration were conducted all through-out the activity.
Moreover, a field visit was also conducted at Ragas Farm located in Brgy. Sanghan, Cabadabaran City. The said farm is owned by Mr. Ruben Ragas, a Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) Cooperator of ATI-Caraga. Mr.
Ragas also shared his idea and best farm practice on growing bulb onion.
The said Free Seminar was culminated in the afternoon with Mr. Joel Laure as the Project Officer and Mr. Caerian Muga as facilitator both from ATI-Caraga (with report from CBMuga).
