FSTP refreshes Nasipit farmers

Mr. Agustus Franco Jamias of FSTP-UPLB led the mentoring and coaching of participants on Leadership Management and Marketing of Agricultural Products.

NASIPIT, Agusan del Norte – The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 successfully conducted 2 batches of Training Course for Farmer Scientist Training Program (FSTP) in collaboration with the FSTP-UPLB held on November 2019.

The refresher course in two batches was held to further sharpen farmers’ capabilities as farmer-scientists. During the course, the participants were grouped according to topics, which included background of FSTP, Corn-based farming systems, farm record keeping, spiritual & moral values formation, IPM & Detasseling, Land Preparation, Post-Harvest Management, Integrated Nutrient Management, Corn Breeding, Community Organizing, Leadership management, Harvesting and Yield computation and Marketing of Agricultural Products.

Farmer-participants intensively discussed their topics together with their assigned facilitators. They outlined their lessons and made visual aids. Feedbacks on their presentations were given by FSTP experts from UPLB, Ms. Wilma S. Velasco, Mr. Anecito M. Anuada, Mr. Augustus Franco Jamias, Ms. Carla O. Melodillar and Mr. Jay Mark Ian Caindoy for them to enhance their presentations before the actual conduct of FSTP Phase III in their assigned barangays.

Nineteen participants from Alegria, Surigao del Norte attended the refresher course on November 25 – 26, 2019 and 28 farmer participants on November 27 – 28, 2019 from Nasipit, Agusan del Norte.
