BUTUAN CITY – A total of 30 agriculture students participated in the online Search for Kabataang OA quiz bee, as one of the promotional activities in line with the 7th Organic Agriculture Month.
The participating State Universities and Colleges are the Caraga State University (CSU) with 10 delegates, the Surigao State College of Technology (SSCT) – Mainit campus with 5 quizzers, the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) with 10 delegates and the Northeastern Mindanao State University – Tagbina campus having 5 participants. According to the Organic Agriculture program point person/Training Specialist I Elena P. Madelo, the quizzers underwent the online Prequalification round last November 15, 2021. There were 10 out of the 30 contestants advanced to the final round of the quiz bee on November 19.
Finally, the top 8 who emerged as winners during the awarding ceremony on the 29th and will receive cash prizes are the following: First placer – Gabriela Shammah P. Dela Torre; Second placer – Kimberly Joy A. Semblante; Third placer Jesril Mark B. Peñaloza, all from the Caraga State University. The following quizzers also receive consolation prizes: Louvin D. Ohao of the NEMSU (4th place)’; Peter Paul R. Acabo of the SSCT (5th place); Ace Joshua E. Burias from CSU (6th place); Cherry Mae S. Guimalon from SSCT (7th place); and Aljohn K. Solis of the CSU (8th place).
Aside from the quiz bee, there were also series of webinars, digital art with slogan making and song writing contest as part of the celebration.
This year’s theme for the month-long OA celebration dubbed as “Organikong pagsasaka sagot sa pandemya,” aims to ensure that healthy and safe food is available for every Filipino family especially during this time of pandemic.
