SOA on Cassava Production produces 500 plus graduates

Ms. Vernalyn P. Ecnad, from the municipality of San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, receives her awards as the Top 1 enrollee of the School on-the-Air (SOA) on Cassava Production during its mass graduation on October 25, 2019 at Naliyagan Grounds, Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

PATIN-AY, Prosperidad, Agusan Del Sur – Participated by 10 Local Government Units in Agusan del Sur, the School on-the-Air on Cassava Production spearheaded by the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 successfully conducted its mass graduation on October 25, 2019.

The SOA program aimed to intensify the promotion of cassava production through the use of radio for 16 sessions, once a week - every Tuesday at 5-6 am which started on May 28 to Sept. 10, 2019 over Hope Radio Philippines Butuan.

The following are the number of graduates per LGUs: Sibagat – 42, Esperanza – 82, Bayugan – 39, Prosperidad – 82, San Francisco – 42, La Paz – 96, Loreto – 95, San Luis – 15, Trento – 27, and Rosario – 40. All in all, there were 536 graduates composed of farmers, students, housewives, Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) and other interested

Ten municipal top notchers were awarded farm tools during the activity. Provincial/ Municipal coordinators, LGUs, and resource persons were also recognized.

“The Local Government of Agusan del Sur will not stop helping the farmers of the province. We are thankful to the Agricultural Training Institute who gave this opportunity to our province. Also to our 10 active municipalities who came for their graduation program. And with the help of the Provincial Agriculture and Veterinary Office (PAVO) will ensure that these extension services will reach our farmers,” said Hon. Edilberto D. Bastareche – Sangguning Panlalawign Committee Chair on Agriculture and Food Security.

Present also during the activity were Mr. Armando G. Valiente - Provincial Agriculturist, Godofredo B. Curie – OIC Bayugan City Agriculturist, Samuel L. Calonzo – ATI RTC 13 Center Director, and Fil Victor A. Babanto – ATI-RTC 13 Information Services Section Chief.
