Actual hands-on on OHN Preparation.
TALACOGON, Agusan del Sur - The three-day Training on Vegetable Production for Indigenous People (IP) was conducted at Barangay Desamparados, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur. The training was in participated by 30 IPs.
Topic discussed were vegetable production by Jovil Japos and Organic Agriculture and Preparation of different organic concoction by Nila Estrada. Meanwhile, the actual and return demonstration was done by the participants. Benchmarking activity at Del Monte Low Land Research Station was included in order to showcase the technology.
Participants learned about vegetable cultural practice from land preparation, planting, care and maintenance and harvesting; insect pest and diseases; importance of organic agriculture and its health benefits; preparation of indigenous microorganism (IMO); fermented plant juice (FPJ); fermented fruit juice (FFJ); oriental herbal nutrient (OHN) and fish amino acid (FAA); vermi-composting and composting with Trichrograma.
Nick Paul, one of the participants of the training said during the closing program, “I am very impressed on this training. I thank our facilitator from ATI, the LGU Municipal Agriculture Office and our resource persons for sharing their knowledge on preparing the different organic concoction fertilizer that will help us on our farming activities.”
The training on vegetable production was conducted from October 9-11, 2018.
