ATI capacitates young agripreneurs

The participants brainstorm about developing their own product brand.

ROSARIO, Agusan del Sur – Addressing one of the challenges that agriculture is facing today, the ATI-Regional Training Center 13 conducted the 2nd batch of Training on Agripreneurship for young farmers of Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte and the Province of Dinagat Islands.

A total of 31 members of the 4-H club took part in the training last October 1-4, 2019 which opened their minds into the potentials of farming as a business.

The resource person Mr. Frederick Blancas employed interactive methodologies in discussing the topics on innovation and branding, basic principles of marketing, business plan formulation and financial literacy.

One of the participants from Surigao del Norte attested how he and his co-trainees enjoyed all the activities incorporated in the training. “The training was more of exposure, practical training methodologies, workshops, and it was quite interesting,” said Christian Jay C. Guillen when asked of his impression.

Said training was even made more interesting as the young farmers explored and gained first-hand information on the best practices of some ATI-certified Learning Sites for Agriculture (LSA) in the municipalities of Trento and Rosario. These are Hillsview Farm, Jinayon’s Duck Farm and VPO Agro-Industrial Development Corporation.
