CABADBARAN CITY, Agusan del Norte – Over 600 enrollees from the 11-participating municipalities within Agusan del Norte have completed the 4-month School-on-the-Air (SOA) Program on Swine Production.
The mass graduation held on October 16, 2019 formally conferred its completion. The graduates who received their certificates of completion included farmers, raisers, Agricultural Extension Workers, students, and other stakeholders from the municipalities of Buenavista, Carmen, Jabonga, Kitcharao, Las Nieves, Magallanes, Nasipit, RT Romualdez, Santiago, Tubay, and Cabadbaran City.
During the event, the top-notchers in the municipal and provincial level were given tokens and awards such as piglets, feeds and other supplies as after-training support. Moreover, the SOA Coordinators and Resource Persons who shared their time and expertise in the implementation of the SOA program were also recognized.
Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Hon. Meriam G. Pagaran and Cabadbaran City Vice Mayor Hon. Rey G. Jamboy graced the said event. In his message, Hon. Jamboy lauded the effort of the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center 13 under the Livestock Program in initiating activities aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of various stakeholders in swine production.
On the other hand, Hon. Pagaran said that this undertaking is in line with the advocacy of the Provincial Government to promote agricultural development in the province. “Education has been the forefront of technological advancement. We hope for follow-up activities to ensure that what you have learned from the SOA will be applied,” Pagaran added.
All efforts may have been futile if not with the active support and cooperation of the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) through the PVO-Agusan del Norte headed by Provincial Veterinarian Belen M. Aruelo, DVM and the municipal LGUs through the Municipal Agriculture Offices.
It can be recalled that the SOA program commenced last May 17, 2019 over DXMT – Mark FM in Cabadbaran City and anchored by Agriculturist II Raul C. Cornites of the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO)-Agusan del Norte who also served as the Provincial SOA Coordinator and Resource Person.
