Young Farmer from LA off to Taiwan for 11-month internship

BUTUAN CITY – A young farmer from Los Angeles, Butuan City left the country last October 2, 2021 to undergo an 11-month internship under the Filipino Young Farmers Internship Program (FYFIP) in Taiwan.

Rueljan B. Carrillo joins twenty-eight other youth from other regions in the Philippines as the first batch of interns to acquire modern Taiwanese farming techniques, approaches and marketing strategies. Upon completion, the interns are required to implement a re-entry project that will showcase their acquired knowledge and skills on modern agricultural and fisheries techniques.

During the pre-arrival orientation conducted by the ATI-Partnership and Accreditation Division last September 17, 2021, OIC-Director Rosana P. Mula encouraged the qualified interns to maximize the learning opportunity given to them. She also reminded them to be mindful of the regulations of the program and to uphold their Filipino values.

In preparation, the interns underwent the online Pre-Departure Orientation Course last June to September which include technology trainings and Mandarin classes.
The FYFIP, which aims to develop the youth into becoming empowered entrepreneurs is a partnership between the Department of Agriculture, Manila Economic and Cultural Office and Taipei Economic and Cultural Office.
