LOS ANGELES, Butuan City – The government through the Department of Agriculture - Agricultural Training Institute taught farmers how to become responsible creditors through the Financial Literacy Training that was held at the training complex of ATI-RTC XIII Caraga from September 25-26, 2018.
Twenty-seven (27) farmers from Magallanes, Kitcharao and Cabadbaran City attended the two-day training where they learned about the programs of the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC), Production Loan Easy Access (PLEA), Filipino Values, Business Cycles, Competencies of a Successful Entrepreneur, Simple Bookkeeping, Farm Financial Plan, Records Keeping and Sustainable Farm Business.
“Our government is giving us a lot of assistance; our action is all what we need. When it comes to saving money, definitely we need to practice it and we should encourage others to do the same. We learned here that we need to deduct first a portion of our wages to savings before any unnecessary expenses. We also learned that cooperatives are not for credits, instead, it is for savings. I hope we will do what we learned here,” stated Roy Cartera, Branch Manager of BAUG Coorperative in Magallanes, Agusan del Norte.
