The 4-H Regional Youth Camp is a yearly gathering but because of the pandemic it was postponed in 2020 and was pushed through this year only through online platform.
LOS ANGELES, Butuan City – The province of Surigao del Sur took home all top prizes during the recently concluded 4-H Regional Youth Camp on October 8, 2021 via Zoom and Facebook Live. This activity is traditionally held every year and usually run for several days. But due to the pandemic, it was postponed in 2020 and only pushed through this year via online platform.
The morning session was devoted to lectures on “Ensuring Home Food Security Amidst the Pandemic” by Engr. John Wevin A. Tingas and “The Role of Youth in Farm Tourism” by Engr. Matt Andrew G. Baquiano. In between the talks are trivia questions where the fastest participant to answer correctly received a cellphone load.
In the afternoon, there were two contests that took place and these were the Two-Minute Speech Contest and the Promotional Video Making Contest. Below is the complete list of winners:

Top winners received cash prizes and will have the chance to compete at the national level. Mary Grace Salve, RBO/4-H Point Person of ATI-RTC 13, added that starter kits will also be given out to active and deserving 4-H Clubs in the region.
According to Salve, there were a total of 55 individuals coming from different provinces and cities within the region composed of 4-H Club members, officers, and coordinators who registered online. With the theme “Rise of the 4-H’er (Reaching Independence, Sustainability and Empowerment of the 4-H Clubs amidst the Pandemic)”, the activity aimed to update the members on agricultural development, sustainability, and youth empowerment.
