PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur – Moms here know better especially when it comes to growing organic veggies. Thanks to the Training on Organic Vegetable Production for Women-Mothers (Batch 1) that they attended last September 17-19, 2018 at the Hygeia Integrameds Center in Barangay Patin-ay.
During the three-day training, thirty mothers from different towns of Agusan del Sur learned about organic fertilizer preparation and application, organic vegetables, biosphere and agriculture, laws of ecosystem, actors of crop production, farm organism, biodynamic planting calendar and organic agriculture vs. modern agriculture.
“Thank you for the additional wisdom we gained through this training, we learned ways how to have additional income and to lessen the expenses, we understood the importance of using organic fertilizer and its effect. I'm so thankful of this training because it really helped us women and mothers, not because we are always at home and we can't do anything but also because we can contribute something to the community,” said Jenily Diocampo of Brgy. Buenasuerte, San Francisco.
The aim of the training was to enhance the knowledge, attitude and skills of the participants on organic vegetable production. Aside from the lectures, participants also formulated an action plan and were required to established their own organic vegetable garden in their respective backyards.
