LOS ANGELES, Butuan City - Selected participants from the Department of Agriculture (DA) and its attached bureaus took part in the Online Technical Writing Course (Batch II) held via WebEx platform on September 22-24, 2021.
There were 34 participants coming from DA Central Office and Regional Field Offices (RFOs), Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Centers (ATI-RTCs), and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), to name a few. Most of them were Information Officers (IOs), Media Production Specialists (MPSes), Executive Assistants, and those who held writing assignments in their respective organizations.
Jason Paul Dads E. Jampac, MPS II of ATI-RTC 13, attended the online course. Due to limited slots, there were only four ATI-RTCs who had the chance to send a participant to the training.
The three-day activity was filled with lectures on principles for clear and effective writing, measuring clarity in writing using the Fog Index, outlining for organizing ideas, and the inverted pyramid structure in writing. Aside from lectures, there were also individual exercises on grammar and correct usage as well as group workshops on outlining and preparing memorandum.
he objective of the training was to enhance the technical writing skills of the participants in order to communicate effectively whatever their message is to their readers.
The resource speaker, Josefina J. Quintana, is a former Director of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and professor from the University of Santo Tomas (UST).
