AEWs, farmers join Training Course on Nursery Establishment

TRENTO, Agusan del Sur – Agricultural extension workers (AEWs), farmers and other private and government workers joined the Training Course on Nursery Establishment, Management and Propagation Technique on Selected High Value Crops last September 5-7, 2018 at the Central Convenience in Poblacion, Trento.

The main thrust of the training was to enhance the participants’ knowledge, practical skills and attitude in nursery establishment, management, propagation techniques in selected high value crops. Through this undertaking, it will help farmers improve production of quality seedlings and planting materials.

Reynard V. Dalauta, a field worker in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to take part in the three-day training. "The learnings we got from this training were priceless. For us who are not exposed in this field, our knowledge was broadened and we were enlightened especially on the correct practices in establishing and propagating certain crops. Again I am very thankful to those who initiated this training and we hope that there will be more trainings for us so that more individuals will learn and become progressive in the future."

The 30 training participants learned about soil media preparation, bagging, sowing, top working, side grafting, inarching, cleft grafting, saddle grafting, multiple rootstock, patch budding and chip budding, among others.
