BUTUAN CITY- The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 held a mid-season assessment via google meet on August 28, 2020.
This is to harmonize activities for the smooth flow of the School-on-the-Air (SOA) program on rice production which was currently implemented in Surigao del Sur.
Five (5) Municipal/City SOA Coordinators from the participating Local Government Units (LGUs) in the said province joined in.
Ginalyn V. Arbutante, SOA Point Person from ATI-Caraga welcomed everyone and expressed her heartfelt thanks to the coordinators for their online presence. On the other hand, Provincial SOA Coordinator Fritzieh Trujillo acknowledged participants and encouraged them to raise their experiences in the field.
Meanwhile, issues and concerns were also discussed during the virtual meeting. Participating municipalities/city such as Tago, Cortes, Cagwait, Bayabas and Tandag City were represented by their Agricultural Technologists.
It has been noted that various strategies were applied by the SOA Coordinators specifically in gathering their SOA students in remote barangays. Most of them were using online platform particularly the social media in communicating each one of them.
Moreover, recorded SOA program were uploaded in Facebook Page of ATI-Caraga as part of the agreements between the Institute and Bandera 100.7 News FM radio station based in Tandag City.
At present, the SOA program is now on its 8th episode airing once a week every Tuesday at 5:00-6:00 o’clock in the morning. Hosted by Mr. Trujillo from the OPAg-SDS in Tandag City.
This is in partnership with the local government unit of Surigao del Sur through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturists headed by Provincial Agriculturist Marcos M. Quico.
