4-H Club members attend GAD Seminar

LOS ANGELES, Butuan City – To raise awareness of equality in law, social system and democratic activities towards Gender and Development (GAD), the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII held a one-day Seminar on Gender Sensitivity Batch 2 for the youth sector on August 3, 2021.

It was participated in by 15 individuals who were members of the 4-H Club from Brgy. Los Angeles and Taligaman, Butuan City. Specifically, this aims to provide an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to understand the social and cultural constructions of gender that shapes the experiences of women and men in the society.

Topics on the basic concepts of sex and gender, common gender issues challenging the society today and how to reduce gender biases, child sexual abuse prevention were discussed by Novalil H. Tubo, Social Worker II from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cabadbaran City. She also explained the Republic Act 11313 known as “Safe Spaces Act” which is an act defining gender-based sexual harassment in streets, public spaces, online workplaces, and educational or training institutions, providing protective measures and prescribing penalties.

Aside from the lecture, group activities were used as strategies during the activity.
