BUTUAN CITY,– The Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center 13 conducted the virtual Mid-Assessment of the School-on-the-Air (SOA) on Inbred Rice Seeds Production and Farm Mechanization under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund – Rice Extension Services Program (RCEF-RESP) via Google Meet last August 26, 2020.
In his message, Center Director Samuel L. Calonzo thanked the Provincial Local Government Unit of Agusan del Norte through the Provincial Agriculture Office for partnering with ATI in promoting the production of high quality rice seeds and farm mechanization to farmers and stakeholders within the RCEF-priority areas. He also acknowledged the active participation of the seven LGUs through the Municipal Agriculturist Offices particularly the SOA coordinators who closely monitored the activities relating to the program despite the threat of the pandemic.
Provincial SOA coordinator and Program Anchor Rodolfo D. Nalla reported the status of the program which is now on its 8th episode. He mentioned that the first quiz was administered on-air last August 13, 2020 before the discussion of Key Check 5 with the Resource Person Benjie M. Villaruben.
SOA Point Person Mary Grace B. Salve highlighted some of the important activities leading to the sound conduct of the program from its coordination meetings, briefing, launching and episodes including the efforts of the coordinators in reinforcing the learnings of the enrolees through canned broadcast sessions.
Per Enrolment Forms submitted by the coordinators, there are a total of 366 individuals who are enrolled in the SOA. However, it was agreed during the assessment that those who missed the pre-test and 1st quiz shall be excluded from the official roll. Coordinators are given until Tuesday, September 1, 2020 to consolidate the quiz results.
Other agreements during the meeting include the provision of starter kits to the graduates and token or awards for the top three enrolees per LGU upon completion of the program.
In closing, Violeta T. Laguna encouraged the coordinators being the key players in extension to sustain the passion and commitment in serving our farmers.
It can be recalled that the SOA was officially launched last July 9, 2020 over Hope Radio 93.5 FM.
