BRGY. LOS ANGELES, Butuan City- Online learners learned how to produce mushroom during the third episode of the webinar series season 3. The said episode was aired during the i-BIDA nATIn program of the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 on August 20, 2020.
Anecita Troza, Science Research Assistant of the Department of Agriculture (DA) Caraga served as the Resource Person during the webinar. She discussed the importance and health benefits of mushroom during the session.
Moreover, participants were able to identify the different species of mushroom as well as its nutritional analysis. Mushroom contains vitamins and minerals. It has vitamin B5- Pantothenic acid which is responsible in the production of hormone, vitamin B9- Folate which is essential for the formation of red and white blood cells in bone marrow. On the other hand, Vitamin H- Biotin is essential in the metabolism of proteins.
According to studies, mushroom contains no salt and has more potassium than most other fruits and vegetables. In fact, it contains more potassium than banana.
Preparation procedure in culture medium was also presented by the Resource Person during the webinar’s 3rd episode. Queries were raised by the participants through chat box and were answered right after the discussion.
