ATI 13 orients BBOs on Bantay ASF Program

The participants from Tagbina, Surigao del Sur listen to the discussion of how important insurance is to swine mortality with ASF coverage during the Bantay ASF sa Barangay: Orientation and Deputization of Barangay Biosecurity Officer (batch 2) on August 16, 2021.

Los Angeles, Butuan City – As part of the Bantay African Swine Fever (ASF) program to capacitate its frontliners in the intensification of ASF surveillance and monitoring, the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII conducted four batches of Orientation and Deputization of Barangay Biosecurity Officers (BBOs) in support to the National Livestock Program (NLP).

It aimed for BBOs to gain knowledge on Bantay ASF sa Barangay Program, familiarize the importance of biosecurity, roles and responsibilities of BBOs, and recognize the significance of swine mortality insurance with ASF coverage.

The first batch was held at San Miguel, Surigao del Sur on August 13, 2021 attended by 20 BBOs, 2nd was in Tagbina, Surigao del Sur on August 16, 2021 with 27 participants, 3rd batch in Loreto, Agusan del Sur on August 17, 2021 joined by 34 individuals. Lastly, the 4th batch was done in ATI-RTC XIII, Los Angeles, Butuan City on August 19, 2021 with 16 partakers.

The series of seminars were done in partnership with the Department of Agriculture – Caraga Region, Provincial and City Veterinary Office, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, and Pilmico.
