PDI vegetable growers complete FFS

SAN JOSE, Province of Dinagat Islands – Designed to bring farmers together to carry out a collective and collaborative inquiry to initiate community action towards solving community issues, 22 vegetable growers from Brgy. Cuarinta successfully completed the 16 sessions of Farmers Field School (FFS) on Vegetable Production which started last April 7 and culminated on August 3, 2021.

The said FFS was conducted by the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII in partnership with the Municipal Agriculture Office of San Jose with Emelita Bitacura and Edna Roa as facilitators.

Participants were able to learn vegetable health benefits, cultural management of vegetable production from seedling preparation to harvesting, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) principles and elements, Organic Agriculture Act (R.A. 10068), and identify beneficial and harmful insects during the conduct of Agro Ecosystem Analysis (AESA).

Ug nagpasalamat mig dako sa ATI Region Caraga nga naghatag ug suporta sa mga kagamitan sa pag-uma,” (We are very thankful to LGU San Jose who always supported farmers like us to learn new agricultural technologies and with prayers to our God, we worked and attended the FFS happily and actively. We also thank ATI for providing us with farm tools) said Mr. Albino Enovero, one of the participants.
