LOS ANGELES, Butuan City – Finally after more than a month, winners of the “Garden Mo, i-BIDA Mo” vlogging contest were finally revealed last August 5, 2020 via Facebook page of ATI Caraga Region.
The first place went to Alvin Literato Mendoza of Pilar, Siargao, Surigao del Norte. His vlog began with a dramatization of a pumpkin deity who appeared to him to forewarn about a forthcoming pandemic and that the only way to survive is by planting vegetables. The next scene then shows Alvin constructing a bamboo-made hanging garden in a time-lapse mode. His video presentation was marked with special effects and other editing techniques that impressed the judges. But what catapulted him to the top plum was the number of likes, views and shares of his vlog which comprised 15% of the final score. As a prize for his artistic vlog, he will receive a Samsung A20s android phone plus Php 2000 worth of cellphone load.
Second place was awarded to Maria Arem Christine Jamero of Matabao, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte. This fluent vlogger showcased her family’s vegetable area, piggery, technologies applied, as well as the fun and joy of working in the farm as a family. Because of the clarity and impact of her message to the youth, she led the preliminary round and was only overtaken in the final race when social media popularity was factored in. She won a Samsung A20s android phone and a Php 1,500 worth of cellphone load.
Rounding up the Top 5 were: Quennie Yvonne Laure of Brgy. Los Angeles, Butuan City (3rd Place); Hilcon Alexis Sumatra of Brgy. Taguibo, Butuan City (4th Place); and Maureen Nueva of Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte (5th Place). All three received an Oppo A31 android phone and cellphone load.
Due to the good quality of entries, a 6th and 7th place were declared. Carlo Luminario of Doongan, Butuan City was adjudged 6th Place while Ester Escalante of Cagniog, Surigao City was proclaimed 7th Place. Both received garden kits comprising of pots, hand shovel, seedling tray, vermicompost, garden soil, gloves, seeds, hand spray and sprinkler. Moreover, they were also given Php 500 worth of cellphone load.
A total of twenty entries were submitted to ATI-Caraga. They came from the five provinces of the Caraga region including the cities of Surigao and Butuan. All non-winners were able to receive a consolation prize of Php 500 worth of cellphone load.
Winners were determined based on the following criteria: Content (35%), Creativity (25%), Quality of Video (20%), No. of FB likes, shares, and views (15%).
