Edgar Intano of San Roque, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur conveyed his appreciation to ATI for his participation in the Batch 4 of the TOT for Local Farmer Technicians (LFTs).
BUTUAN CITY - The four batches of Training of Trainers (TOT) for Local Farmer Technicians (LFTs) which were all held at ATI-Caraga had produced a total of 107 graduates. The participants came from different parts of the region with the aim of helping the local government unit in promoting modern rice production and post-production technologies.
The TOTs were held in different dates. Batch 1 was conducted last June 19-22, 2018; Batch 2 on June 26-29, 2018; Batch 3 on July 10-13, 2018; and Batch 4 on July 31-August 3, 2018.
Topics during the four-day training were as follows: (Module 1) Transformational Leadership; (Module 2) Updates on DA’s Rice Productivity Program and Support, Updates on LFT Program, Updates on Rice Hybridization Program; (Module 3) Major Rice Pests & Diseases Management with Field Activities (Actual Diagnosis), Product Stewardship, Alternative Pests Management cum Bio-Pesticides Preparation, Mushroom Production; (Module 4) Farm Business Management, Farm Financial Management and Farm Planning and Decision-Making; and (Module 5) Challenges & Opportunities on Farm Mechanization.
Besides the lectures, the participants also underwent workshops and field activities. At the end of the training, they were able to produce a farm plan & budget and an action plan.
During the closing program of Batch 4 in TOT, Edgar Intano of San Miguel, Surigao del Sur, expressed his appreciation of the training. “Nangandoy ko kung kanus-a pa ko makabalik sa ATI. Sa mga topic dinhi, nakahuna-huna ko kung unsa ka importante ang LFT ilabi na sa amo nga purely chemical. Importante diay nga mapasabot ang mga responsibilidad isip farmer. Ang mga topics sama sa fermentation magamit gayod nako ug ang mushroom interesado ako kay adunay oportunidad niini sa among lugar.” (I am looking forward when I can come back here in ATI. Regarding the topics, I realized how important LFT is especially to us who are using purely chemicals. It is truly important that we understand our responsibility as a farmer. The topics on fermentation has been useful for me and I am also interested in venturing into mushroom production because of its opportunities in our locality).
Other participants were also thankful to the resource speakers who graciously shared their knowledge and expertise. The resource speakers were: Rev. Alfonso Noynay, Susana Montilla (CSU), Noli Orog (DA-RFO 13), Jonathan Salazar (SL Agritek), Reynaldo Torres (Extension Service Provider), Edgardo Madjos (Magsasakang Siyentista), Edilberto Bayot, Engr. Jefrey M. Bagasbas and Violeta Laguna (ATI-Caraga).
