During the TOT on Extension Delivery System, the resource speakers namely Dr. Andrew Gasmen and Antonietta Arceo, stressed during their lectures the importance of being an extensionist.
PASAY CITY, Metro Manila - The Agricultural Training Institute Central Office (ATI-CO) hosted the Training of Trainers on Extension Delivery System (EDS) last August 5-10, 2018 at the Kabayan Hotel this city.
Twenty-four (24) staff from the regional training centers and CO participated in the weeklong training. Participants from ATI-Caraga were Ginalyn Arbutante (Information Officer II), Matt Andrew Baquiano (Training Specialist I) and Jason Paul Dads E. Jampac (Technical Support Staff).
The Project Officer in the person of Rae Bernadette M. Lapitan, said that the training aimed to articulate to the participants the EDS modules. Specifically, it also intended to discuss the basics of agricultural extension (AE); explain the different approaches, strategies and methods; and demonstrate effective communication skills in extension.
Dr. Andrew D. Gasmen, a former ATI Planning Officer and now University Researcher of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) delivered the topics on Module 1: Basics, Trends and Key Players in AE; and Module 2: Extension Approaches and Strategies.
Antonietta J. Arceo, Chief of the Information Services Division of ATI-CO, discussed Module 3 which included Extension Communication and Presentation Skills.
During the last day, all participants conducted a micro-teaching where they delivered a specific topic and were critiqued based on delivery and presentation skills. Panelists during the micro-teaching included Dr. Gasmen, Arceo, Editha S. Vinuya (Chief of the Career Development Management Services of ATI-CO) and Vernonica Concepcion V. Esguerra (ATI-III Center Director).
