The Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 staff promote programs and services of the Institute at the same time distribute various resource materials on the production and processing of crops and livestock.
BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Agriculture – Caraga Region through its Research Division successfully conducted the 6th Regional Technology Forum and Product Exhibition last August 8-9, 2019 at the Almont Inland Resort with the theme “Technologies from Agri-Fishery R&D as Catalyst for Sustainability and Competitiveness.”
New and innovative technologies and products generated by the Research and Development Extension Network members and DA’s Research and Experiment Stations (DA-RES) were showcased during the event. Resource Speakers during the plenary sessions were as follows: Engr. Ernalyn Colon of PCA who discussed the Coconut Value Adding; Mr. Kim Timogan from Nasipit, Agusan del Norte who shared his successful journey in cacao production; Dominador F. Bacalso Jr. and Adzel Adrian G. Baldevieso of SDSSU-Lianga campus who presented the art, science and business of Tilapia production; and, Mr. Elmer E. Enicola, Soybean National TWG discussed the economic importance of Soybean as an Industry.
As one of the exhibitors, the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 promoted its programs and services and distributed various resource materials on the production and processing of crops and livestock.
Other exhibitors from the line agencies of the DA were Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and, Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA). Participating State Universities and Colleges were the Surigao del Sur State University (SDSSU) with PLGU-Surigao del Sur, Caraga State University (CSU), Surigao State College of Technology (SSCT) with PLGU-Surigao del Norte. Moreover, DA’s Integrated Laboratory Division, Del Monte Lowland Rainfed Research and Experiment Station, Tagbina RES and Trento RES also displayed their researches and products.
The 2-day forum was attended by nearly 200 farmers, Agricultural Extension Workers, researchers and other stakeholders.
