Concerns raised on Day 1 of consultation in AgSur

Armando Valiente, Provincial Agriculturist of Agusan del Sur, talked about the challenges that is faced by the province in anticipation of the possible changes in the agriculture sector in the years to come.

PATIN-AY, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur – Issues and concerns have already surfaced on Day 1 (July 15, 2021) of the Provincial Consultation-Workshops for the Development of the National Extension Agenda and Programs (NEAP) for the Fiscal Year 2022-2028 at the Hygeia IntraMeds Center of the Foundation for the Development of Agusanons, Inc., (FDAI).

Most of the concerns were mostly on the plight of Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs), price and marketing of palay, and impacts of the implementation of the Mandanas ruling and the Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System (PAFES).

Participants during the first day of the consultation included Provincial Agriculturist Armando Valiente and his key personnel, representatives from the municipal and city Local Government Units (LGUs), National Government Agencies (NGAs), State Universities and Colleges (SUC), Extension Service Providers (ESP), and Learning Sites for Agriculture (LSA) cooperators.
