AEWs, Learning site cooperators, and DA-ATI staff qualify for OA competencies

Participants Enhancement Training for Organic Agriculture for Agricultural Extension Workers with NC II on June 24-26, 2019 at the City Organic Agri-Fishery Complex (COAFC) Bislig City.

BISLIG CITY, Surigao del Sur – Being mandated for providing sufficient competency specially
in agriculture-related skills of its various clientele in the region, the Agricultural Training Institute-
Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 recently conducted an Enhancement Training for
Organic Agriculture for Agricultural Extension Workers with NC II on June 24-26, 2019 at the
City Organic Agri-Fishery Complex (COAFC) Bislig City. The three-day enhancement aimed at
preparing the trainees to have a passing rate on the competency assessment.

Before the assessment proper, the participants underwent training/enhancements on the
competencies for Organic Agriculture NC II namely: Raise Organic Chicken, Organic Vegetable
Production, Produce of Organic Concoction, Organic Swine Production and Organic Small
ruminant production. Ms. Lolita A. Sayman, In-charge of City Organic Agri-Fishery Complex
(COAFC) Bislig City served as the Resource Person of the said topics. For every competency,
the trainees were required to have a hands-on demonstration for the skills desired.

Claros Dunque, an accredited assessor of the Technical Education and Skills Development
Authority (TESDA) spearheaded the assessment on July 11-12, 2019. Dunque also shared his
knowledge and experiences on Organic Agriculture that can be applied or shared by the
participants in their respective locality. The assessment comprises of practical (hands-on) exam
and personal interview.

The training/enhancement and competency certification is part of ATI’s continuing capability
building for agricultural extension workers, learning site cooperators, program coordinators in
the region as well as its ATI technical staff who are tasked to deliver quality service to its various
clients and stakeholders in the field of agriculture.

A total of thirty (30) individuals are now Organic Agriculture NC II holders.
