ATI promotes awareness on gender sensitivity among the youth

BUTUAN CITY – In support of the global advocacy on Gender and Development (GAD), the Agricultural Training Institute -Regional Training Center 13 conducted a Seminar on Gender Sensitivity on July 14, 2021 at Balanghai Hotel and Convention Center.

The 15 youth participants comprised of EAsY Agri scholars and qualified interns of the Filipino Young Farmers Internship Program were educated on how gender shapes the role of men and women in society.

Social Worker II Novalil H. Tubo of LGU-Cabadbaran City discussed the basic concepts of sex and gender, common gender issues challenging society today, and how to reduce gender biases.

The participants also learned about the provisions of the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313) and the Child Sexual Abuse Prevention. Group dynamics were also included to enhance the learning process.

“We hope that the knowledge you have gained from this seminar will be put into practice and in your own little ways, you can become GAD advocates,” Point Person/Project Officer Paula Mae A. Creencia said.
